Olds College Hosts Distinguished Visitor from the Philippines
In a warm welcome that transcended borders, Olds College of Agriculture & Technology hosted guests: Zaldy B. Patron, the Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, and Nathan Cooper, MLA for Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills.
The visit commenced with a meeting that brought the guests together with Olds College leadership. Then the group all took a tour of the Olds College campus and Smart Farm to learn more about the applied research projects and equipment used by students and researchers.
“I hope we can apply in the Philippines some of the advanced agricultural technologies and practices of Olds College through partnerships with Philippine government agencies and higher education institutions,” said Consul General Patron.
The visit stands as a testament to Olds College engaging new partnerships that can shape the future of education and agriculture on a global scale. Olds College was recently ranked fourth in Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges by Research Infosource Inc. — an announcement that is getting the College recognized internationally.
